Self-care is a hot topic these days – and I am all for it. We know the importance of taking care of our body and mind, and I love a good excuse for another massage 😉 But there is something else in need of a little care, too: your website! WordPress maintenance is an essential part of operating your site because it keeps your website running smoothly and securely.
When it comes to WordPress maintenance, there are a few easy things that you can add to your to-do list each month to make sure you keep your site healthy. (But if you decide that extra work isn’t for you, check out my WordPress maintenance packages, called Worry-Free Maintenance!)
Your navigation is a prime piece of real estate on your website! You want this space to be simplistic and clear because it’s one of the first places your potential customers will browse 👀 Once a month, check the links in your navigation and clear out any options that no longer serve you.
With my Worry-Free Maintenance clients, I can handle this monthly task for them. And not to brag or anything…but I’m pretty good at coming up with simplistic navigation titles 😉
Nothing weighs a website down quite like old plugins. Each month, you should be removing plugins that are no longer relevant to your site. For example, if you were to switch email providers, you need to ditch the old provider’s plugin.
Afraid you’re going to ruin your website by removing a plugin? 😨 When you sign up for one of my WordPress Maintenance Packages, we kick things off with a plugin audit, and I’ll remove any unneeded plugins. From there, I’ll keep your plugins in tip-top shape!
Out with the old (plugins) and in with the new ones! Add some essential plugins to improve your WordPress experience.
Of course, my WordPress maintenance packages takes care of allllll that. I give clients a monthly report of their Google Analytics and SEO report, along with recommended plugins.
Ever feel personally victimized by your dashboard 🙋🏻♀️ You can actually rearrange your dashboard to fit your personal needs and keep it looking clean. This is a WordPress maintenance task that will leave you feeling relieved.
When I start working with new Worry-Free Maintenance clients, we chat about what serves them, and I customize their dashboard to fit their specific needs. Plus, I add my contact information at the top, so they can easily reach out for support!
Check out the video below for how I organize my WordPress dashboard:
