Skip the spoon-full of sugar and go directly to the syrup. This a basic recipe that anyone can master and use for all sorts of things like: cocktails, coffee, lemonade, ice tea… did I mention coffee? I was totally inspired to make some of this syrup when my boyfriend, Jonathan and I went to a small coffee shop (not Starbucks!) in Seattle and instead of the normal sugar packets on the bar, they had a bottle full of simple syrup.

It was so simple (pun intended) to pour a bit of the syrup in, swirl with a stick and enjoy. I’m always trying to get the right amount of sugar packets in to make it sweet enough (am I the only one with that problem?) so this is the perfect way to get around that and it’s SO easy!
Simplest of Sugars Syrup

- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- In a small saucepan, bring the sugar and water to a boil. Stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved completely, about 5-10 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and cool completely before funneling it into your favorite glass jar.
- Add some to your morning coffee, your afternoon tea, or your evening cocktail and
