My Past, Present and Future Office

Lifestyle

Our space is now shared in our office so I've gathered some ideas that will help this small room work efficiently. These ideas are perfect for any layout for your home office.

I get so much done in my home office it’s almost like my second home! It’s the place I’m most focused and engaged in creating. If you were to ask my boyfriend, he would probably say I spend TOO much time in there. ;]

Most of you know (if you follow me on Instagram) that I’ve recently moved to Seattle with my boyfriend. I use to live (and still work) in a small town about 25 minutes from where I live now so my commute and increased a little bit. Everything day is a fun adventure of unpacking, unpacking and unpacking. With my the crazy school year I have had, my designing workload and grad school, I usually don’t have too much time during the week (and sometimes weekends) to do any extra unpacking. Hence it being close to two months living there and still unpacking. Yippee!

All my s#!+ is here so I guess we are officially living together! ? #imexhausted #lettheunpackingbegin #boyfriendtime

My old home office was wonderful. It had a built in floating desk (one long one and one corner piece one), built in shelving and space available in the room for other furniture. It had a giant window that looking into the backyard right near where I always sat on my computer. I loved my old office! Everything was exactly where I wanted it, until I had to pack it all up! :]

As I transitioned to my new home with my love, the room we were going to use as a office, needed a lot of work done with it. So instead of unpacking my stuff right away, I unpacked my workspace in the living room for about a month. I used my old desk (it use to store my kitchen supplies at my old house) as my temporary desk! It was a great space but a little loud from the TV in the living room, playing sports (I’m still getting use to the amount of sports I see/hear).

We finally got the new office painted a fresh coat of white and new carpet put in. I was able to finally move into my new space! I quickly and excitedly set up my desk area, plugged in the printer, lights and grabbed flowers from the farmers market. I have a tiny window I can look out of but it opens and it’s fresh and bright in there! I’m so excited for our next steps in this room because ultimately it will be both of space so I’m going to have to make some room for him!

The best part of moving though is having a FRESH start and being able to create something new in the space. And, let’s not kid, being able to go to Ikea! :] I’ve got so many ideas that I want to create in our new space!

As you can see, I have a lot to get done to make it look as good as the board below! But thankfully, I only have 10.5 days left of school which means more freedom and more time! I can’t wait to continue decorating. Make sure you follow me on Instagram for updates on my our office space. :]

Holy buckets girl! Just the sight of this office vision board makes me smile! Now if that's not an incentive to follow your IG account, I don't know what is! You MUST continue sharing pictures of this transformation because I LOVE all of your visions for this space! Thanks for linking up with us sweet friend!

    • alexis says:

Thank you so much for your kind words, Angie! I can't wait until it's finished and you know I will be taking pictures along the way! :]

  2. I love it – especially your colors! And I love that a couple of images you have are also on my own board of what I want my office to look like! My husband and I have plans to use the same L-shaped desk arrangements. Can't wait to see it finished! πŸ™‚

Thanks, girl! Ikea pretty much inspired the colors when I found the pink and green storage boxes. I love the green because it's ALMOST the same color as the Seahawks colors, which is Jonathan's favorite team. :] Good luck on your new office! I wanna see pictures!!

  3. I loved this post!!! Those colors are gorg too!!! I get what you mean about the fresh start! We are moving next year so I can't wait to really do my office up! πŸ˜‰

When you said you packed up your office & moved, I didn't expect to see a finished space! It looks great and I'm sure it will only get better as you put your vision into action! Have fun!
