I have a confession: I am font obsessed! When I work with clients on their website designs, I ogle over their branded fonts (and I’m always down to give my two cents on a website font – if they want it 😉). After working on 35 websites in 2022, I can confidently say that there were clear winners that will continue to be popular fonts of 2023. And I’ll venture to guess you’re looking for some similar fonts yourself.

I want to share what I predict to be the popular fonts of 2023, plus different variations and styles you can choose from!

Font Type #1: Textured

At first, you might not think a textured font could match your brand – but you might be wrong 😉 There are so many fun, funky, and fabulous variations, it’s no wonder it is the most popular font right now.

Here are a few of my favorite textured fonts –

• Wild One – Owner of one feisty, ferocious brand? Snag this class animal print font
• Aurochs – This rugged font is giving outdoorsy and tough vibes.
• Halden – Channel your inner artist with this painted textures font!
• Touch – If you like an au naturel vibe, then you’ll love this stoney textured font. 
• Linoma – This handmade font is hard to describe with one word. Think letter stenciling with a spongy texture!

Font Type #2: Retro

Retro fonts are all the rage right now 👏 Many of my web designs this past year included retro fonts, and it’s easy to see why it would be a popular font of 2023 – they are so cute and fun. If your brand pays homage to the 70s in any way, here are some fonts you’ll love.

Here are a few of my favorite retro fonts –

• Wished – Like coloring outside the lines? Get this retro font with wavy edges and a natural look.
• Magic Makers – This is a sleek, classy take on the retro theme!
• Wild Mango – If modern and retro had a baby, it would be named Wild Mango.
• West Avenue – This font is giving preppy meets retro…and I love it.
• Creative Vintage – You don’t have to give up a textured look when you go retro! This font is the best of both worlds.

Font Type #3: Handwritten

This has been one of the most popular fonts for a while, so I foresee it remaining a popular font in 2023! While the style of handwritten fonts changes over time, overall, they are ultimately timeless. I love that they keep your website looking trendy throughout the years.

Here are a few of my favorite handwritten fonts –

• Superfast – This font screams high-end. The elongated lines and swooping curves are elevated.
• Moonstone – If you’re a calligraphy lover, you’ll appreciate the lettering of this handwritten front.
• Rothary – Why do I feel like this font would fit perfectly with “I Love Lucy” or “Bewitched”?
• Buster – This handwritten font has a calm and romantic feel to it.
• Wild at Heart – Okay, this font is just adorable. It feels doodle-y and sweet!
