I have been inspired by a lot of people that have blogs out there. Teaching blogs, cooking blogs, fashion blogs and of course, Pinterest! . . . I thought why not give it a try (I had this thought about a year ago ;]). I kept putting it off and off until finally, the summer is here and all these big changes are happening in my life. Why not now?, I kept thinking. So here I am, giving it a try. Although I am beyond excited to have created this, I have seriously been dreading this FIRST posting (Maybe that’s why it took me a year to get this up and running). The beginning is so hard to start for me! There is too much pressure. All I want is to make sure I say all the right things and not sound too silly. Anyways, I’m letting the pressure go! My friend Kayla from Orchard Girls has been on me to get this up and running so I kind of dedicate this to her!
Here goes nothing …
A little about me … My name is Alexis and I’m 26 years old. I currently live in Washington State even though I was born in Las Vegas (Fancy, huh?). We have lived here long enough that when we go back to Vegas to visit family, I dread the heat and humidity. My family and friends are amazing and so is my fantastical boyfriend. My family also consists of our 4 dogs that live with my parents. As you can tell, I’m surrounded by a lot of lovely people!
I love all forms of creativity; creating, photography, crafting, sewing, etc. I became a teacher partly for that reason! I remember in elementary school that we use to have art teachers and thought that is exactly what I love to be when I grew up. Well fast forward 10+ years and I find out there are no more art teachers in elementary schools (what the!!!) but luckily there are many other reasons I became a teacher.
This will be my 3rd year teaching. My first year was strictly half time kindergarten, I shared a classroom and it was totally a foot in the door. My second year was more half time kindergarten plus ELL part time. I was insanely happy to be in a school all day so I didn’t mind wearing two hats everyday. Last school year I continued to share a classroom for Kindergarten but for ELL I got my own, as I like to call it, half class (it is literally half the size of a normal classroom). Fast forward again to May when I find out not only will I be getting my FIRST normal sized classroom to call my own, I will also be teaching 3rd and 4th graders (my particular favorite and ideal grade levels when I was substituting)! Now if you can’t understand how excited I am here are a few exclamation marks to prove my point: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
… Anyways, here are a few photos I have been taking as I have been working in my classroom.
I think that this is the perfect time to end this insanely long post. More to come on my love of cooking and of course, more photos of my classroom and all my projects this summer! I guess it wasn’t that hard to begin after all. :]
Alexis, I love it! Great first post and I am so excited to see what you'll be posting next 🙂

Thanks, Kayla! 🙂
