All About Schedules

Teaching

Every wonder how every teacher fits in all their lessons in one day? I'm sharing my schedule for my third and fourth grade classrooms and also spilling a few tips on keeping yourself organized with these time saving tips!

Today I’m sharing my personal schedule in my classroom and a small tip I use to help with planning. I think it’s so important to be planned out and to spend even a little bit of time planning each week. For me, it helps clear my mind to have goals and it makes it easier to get through the week and my objectives as a teacher. I really do run a tight ship in my class so here are my examples to make that a little easier!

My Daily Schedule

Our school works on a 5 day system, which makes planning a little bit easier but I have specialist on certain days! I create my schedule before the school starts the second I get my specialist schedule. I usually try to block math in the morning and reading in the afternoon but this year I have a little taste of both throughout the day! This is my parent copy of the schedule. These copies are colored paper and stored in their STAR folders for easy access. I try to be very clear about what the purpose of each time is for my parents! This schedule is hung outside my door.

Here is my personal teacher copy to show the flow of lessons within my time periods. This helps me be very intention with my teaching time and stay ON schedule! :]

Daily 5 Rotations

Here is a breakdown of my Daily 5 schedule. I keep this right next to me at my guided reading table so I know exactly where everyone is suppose to be! I also include a round where I am strictly conferring with my students using the Confer app (WHICH IS AMAZING!). I also use this third round to meet my reading assessment goals so I don’t overwhelm myself when the testing block comes for reading levels! I usually can get through 1-2 students within that time block!

Math Rotations

Lastly, I have my “Math Matters” block for computation. I created groups based on the success with the concepts the week before so these groups are completely flexible and change weekly. This is another time that I can sit with students and work in small groups or even 1:1 on a concept.

Planning Tip

My last tip for you (if you write out your plans like I do!) is to MAKE LABELS! Don’t re-write your specialist and days off over and over, just put a label on it. You can buy labels that are pretty small or very bright, it’s totally up to you. Just put a label on it! :]
