Fall Acrostic Poems

Teaching

I love using acrostic poems during the fall seasons because there are so many things that can be described. My students always are able to quickly create these poems from their schema. It's a no hassle fun way to introduce a simple form of poetry.

It’s my favorite time of the year! The leaves are changing colors, the weather is cooler and it’s finally boots and sweaters weather! It’s also the time of the year that I take a million trees and leaves pictures. If you follow me on instagram, you’ve seen the proof!

After our practice together, I sent them off with the word Pumpkin with a future art project in mind (more on that later!). They were hard at work creating meaningful and descriptive sentences about Autumn time.

I was there with post-its to help them with their editing, including spelling and making sense of the words. Notice the word Karve up there, creative but had them think of another K word to begin with!
